Any new lifestyle change can be confusing, overwhelming, and feel completely foreign when you first start and Whole30 is no exception. With that in mind we're discussing some of our most vital and valuable tips to stay the course during the first two weeks of Whole30. Remember, any expert was once a beginner so take it easy and set yourself up for success from day one to day 14 with the seven tips below.
THESE 7 TIPS WILL HELP YOU CRUSH YOUR FIRST TWO WEEKS ON WHOLE30
1. Focus on Your Why
Why did you decide to embark on a Whole30 in the first place? Get out a piece of paper and write down any and all reasons that you decided to start this journey. Maybe you have chronic headaches and want to get to the bottom of why they're happening. Maybe you want to learn what foods trigger your breakouts. Whatever the reason, write it down! When the going get's tough, revisit this list to remind yourself why completing a Whole30 is so important to you.
2. Plan, Plan, and Plan Some More
There's nothing worse than feeling flustered and without a plan when you're on Whole30. This first week can be an adjustment period as you settle into your new routine. Think ahead to any situations that may be tough to navigate and come up with plans of how you'll handle it. For example, if I go to my friend's party and there is no compliant food for me to eat, then I will head to run to the grocery store and pick up some Whole30 friendly options, or bring a side of Model Meals.
3. Set Up Your Support Network
If you haven't already done this, now is the perfect time! Navigating a Whole30 is challenging, and having some support will do wonders for you. 4. Drink Alllllll the Water
This is always a good idea, but especially during your first week when your body is detoxing from all of the sugar and other inflammatory foods you've just cut out. Plus, more water = glowing skin and who doesn't want that?!
5. Listen to Your Body
If you're tired, rest. If you're hungry, eat. If you're cranky, scream at the sky and get that aggression out with your favorite high intensity activity (think boxing, power walking) or through journaling. You get the picture! Just honor where you're at and do whatever you need to do to feel your best. Try not to get hung up on how you typically "should" feel and just embrace where you're at.
6. Give Yourself Grace
Your body is going through a lot of changes and it's not always going to feel great at first. If this means cancelling plans or lettings friends and family know that you might be a little more cranky than usual, make sure you're doing whatever you can to make this transition a little less stressful.
7. Make Your Life Easier
Whole30 is challenging enough without you making your life harder. Can you spend four hours creating a beautifully complex Pinterest recipe? Yes.
