An Update For Our Valued Customers

To Our Valued Model Meals Customers,

With the recent surge of COVID-19 cases and the concern around the spread of Coronavirus, I wanted to let you know how we are preparing and protecting our staff and your meals to ensure that everyone stays healthy, safe, and above all, sanitary. The well-being of our Model Meals team and customers has always been our highest priority. This is why we have established and continue to operate with the utmost care and exceptional standards when it comes to safe food-handling and sanitation practices. Here is what you can always expect from us and the careful precautions we continue to take to serve you.


In Our Kitchen- This past Tuesday, March 10th, our facility and kitchen, located at the 4th Street Market in downtown Santa Ana, was visited and inspected by the Orange County Health Care Agency (OCHCA). The facility passed the inspection and in addition, OCHCA inspected our meal packing procedures in real time. All of our staff members who handle food are Certified by Servsafe or other State of California-governing agencies to ensure each person is educated about safe food-handling and sanitary practices. Our employees are trained frequently about company standards pertaining to hand washing and sanitizing procedures in accordance with state, local, and federal law. We are always available for staff questions and pay close attention to how each team member conducts themselves as meals are prepared and packaged from start to finish.


With Our Food- We are still sourcing from the highest quality vendors and have been in constant communication about any potential disruption in our supply chain. As of today, there have been no disruptions with our produce, meat, seafood, or other ingredient vendors. We have always concentrated on organic, local and sustainable vendors with whom we are lucky to have close relationships. In fact, because our supply chain is so tight, we can track the product life back to the original farm- that will always be the case for us. The established relationships we have with our vendors give us the ability to go right to the source to troubleshoot any challenges to supply. As some local businesses and smaller vendors experience the economic impact of this virus, we are committed to patronizing our local suppliers and continuing to infuse revenue into our local economy as long as we can. The people, from supplier to customer, are the heart of why and how we are able to do what we do and we aim to keep these individuals and their livelihoods thriving.


With Our Staff- As is everyday practice, our kitchen, packing, and shipping staff are all highly trained from their first day at Model Meals and receive additional training throughout their time with us. As always, our team strictly follows all food safety standards enforced by local, state, and federal agencies. We continue to seek guidance from all regulatory and health agencies at the local, national, and international level. Again, food safety is our highest priority and as a standard, we have dedicated employees who track every procedure from receiving to final end product. Our team always utilizes nitrile gloves, aprons, and hairnets when handling or around food items. All employees are armed with the knowledge and skills to support a safe and sanitary meal journey and every vendor we work with is required to meet our exemplary standards of quality. This has enabled us to ensure that our complete process is always clean, closely monitored, and safe for our staff and customers.


With Our Deliveries- We have connected with our delivery partner and at this time it is business as usual with their service. We will continue to have open communication with our points of contact and make any updates to potential changes of service available as we are notified of them. We don’t foresee any now, but it has become apparent that our current climate is ever-changing from hour to hour. We will keep everyone informed as we continue to move forward.


Overall- Our high standards and practices around food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness continue to be strictly adhered to. We continue to enforce and operate with stringent internal guidelines and procedures that ensure the safety and health of everything from our kitchen to our staff to our ingredients and our finished prepared meals. As an established Model Meals practice, we continue to follow the guidance of the Orange County Health Care Agency (OCHCA), California Department of Public Health (CDPH), CAL-OSHA and the Department of Industrial Relations, FDA, CDC, and WHO as it pertains to food handling policies, employee health awareness and literacy, and the community we serve. We recognize and honor that this is a vulnerable time locally and across the world. We are doing everything we can to help keep our customers healthy by providing them with quality meals, made to high standards, as we have done since 2014.
