WHAT IS THE DEADLINE FOR ORDERING?
Short Answer: Saturday at Midnight (For Delivery on Sunday)
Longer Answer: We deliver once weekly on Sunday evening. Every Sunday at noon, we post our new menu for the following week. Ordering is open 24/7 and you can order up until midnight Saturday for delivery. For pickup, you can order up until noon on Sunday, the same day you're picking up). Any order placed after noon on Sunday will get delivered the following Sunday. We always encourage you to order as early in the week as possible as we tend to sell out as we get closer to delivery day.

We currently serve most cities in Los Angeles + Orange County + Santa Barbara + San Diego + Riverside + San Bernardino
All deliveries occur on Sunday between 2pm and 9pm. You will receive a text message letting you know when your driver is en route, and when your meals have arrived.
Alternatively, you may opt for free pickup at our kitchen on Sundays between 12pm-3pm. See below for pickup details.

CAN I PICKUP?
Yep! If Model Meals doesn't deliver to your area (or you'd rather swing by) you can pick up your meals at our kitchen. Pickup occurs every Sunday between 12pm and 3pm PST. Our kitchen is located at 201 E 4th Street, Santa Ana, CA 92701.
Pull into the loading zone on Spurgeon Street (between 4th and 5th) and text us that you've arrived. We'll bring your meals right to your car.

DO I HAVE TO BE HOME FOR DELIVERY?
Nope. As long as there is a safe place for your driver to leave your box of meals, then you have nothing to worry about. Your meals are delivered in an insulated Model Meals box that keeps them cold for 24 hours. We encourage you to refrigerate them as soon as possible, but if a Sunday night date turns into a Sunday night sleepover, your meals will be perfectly fine when you get home Monday morning.
I ALREADY ORDERED. CAN I ADD ON TO MY ORDER?
Yep! Just place another order and be sure to use the code ADDON in the discounts section at checkout. We will know to add this order on to your previous one. The code will ensure you don't get charged for delivery twice.
IS THIS A SUBSCRIPTION?
Nah. We're not trying to lock you in and hold you hostage eating our food. We trust that our meals speak for themselves and will have you logging in each week whenever you need us. However, if it would make your life simpler if we placed an order for you each week, we are more than happy to do that for you. Just contact us to set it up and we'll connect you with your own personal Order Master who can take note of your preferences and needs.
AM I GETTING ONE OF THOSE INGREDIENT BOXES OR READY-TO-EAT MEALS?
Correct me if I'm wrong but I was under the impression that you wanted this whole "eating healthy" thing to be convenient, fast, and easy. Our meals are fully prepared, perfectly portioned, and ready to eat. You can eat it cold or heat it up, but either way, there is minimal labor involved. Everything is cooked fully and any reheat instructions are intended for warming.

WHY ONLY WEEKDAY MEALS?
What's in it for you?
: We deliver meals ONCE weekly, on Sunday evening, so you can stock your refrigerator with healthy meals for your weekdays. That means you only spend about 5 minutes a week thinking about where and what you'll eat to stay healthy. We do this in order to promote balance and to help clients take health into their own hands. We understand that we all have busy lives that don't allow us to eat every meal at home or on our own schedule. We encourage clients to cook our recipes
for themselves on the weekends, or to follow our advice in making good choices at restaurants. Our delivery meals help you to stay healthy, focused, and highly productive during the weekdays so that you can go into your weekends feeling fit, energetic, and thriving. And enjoying the occasional treat here and there.
What's in it for us?: We at Model Meals are real people too. Our own self-care is vital in running a business that we believe in. Being in the kitchen only a few days a week allows us the time and energy to care for ourselves so that we can care for you. We like our yoga, reading, family and friend time, beach days, meditation, and lots of sleep, and we don't believe in sacrificing our own wellness for anything. We know that our business is only as great as the people involved, and we want to give you nothing but our best. We also know that providing free content and media is a great way to educate others on how to create a cleaner lifestyle for themselves. Our delivery structure allows us to dedicate a few days a week towards creating content that reaches far beyond our Southern California delivery radius
IS THIS JUST FOR MODELS?
Absolutely not! The word "model" in Model Meals is about being a role model. A model for how we should eat and fuel our bodies. A model for how you should shop for food. A model for how to cook. We aim to model an ideal way of eating and living for our clients. And while eating this way may give you glowing skin, stronger hair and nails, and in some cases a trimmer waistline- our main goal is to model health, wellness, and vitality.
WHERE IS THE FOOD MADE?
All Model Meals food is prepared and cooked in our commercial kitchen space, located inside the 4th Street Market
in Santa Ana, CA. Our chefs are certified by ServSafe
and we follow all health code requirements to ensure your food is handled with caution, care, and love.
TELL ME ABOUT THE PACKAGING.
Your meals are delivered in a Model Meals insulated box packed with ice packs to keep it cold for 24 hours from packaging time. Our compostable meal containers are 100% plant-derived, allergen free, and non-toxic. They are 100% gluten-free and both oven* and microwave safe. Our products are made from a variety of compostable materials, which currently include: compostable PLA plastic made from cornstarch, wheat straw, and sustainable paper alternatives. Wheat allergens are associated with the actual berry, while our containers are made from the stock fibers. The lids are made from PET plastics and are highly recyclable and have been studied significantly for many years, proving them to be the safest form of food grade plastics.
*Lids are not oven/microwave safe. When using a conventional oven, place your container on a sheet tray and do not heat over 375 degrees or more than 30 minutes.
DOES THE MENU CHANGE?
Yes! We post a new menu weekly based on what is seasonal and available at our farmer's market. We post our new menu at noon every Sunday. In addition, we share many of our actual in-house recipes for you to cook at home. If you're not in our delivery radius, you can still enjoy Model Meals on your own! We aren't good at keeping secrets anyways.
ARE YOU CERTIFIED GLUTEN FREE?
No. Here is why: We do not use gluten in ANY of our meals and everything we sell is gluten free. Then why aren't we certified gluten free? The kitchen space that we use is a shared space that allows other businesses to prepare their foods in the kitchen on days we are not there. Because we do not have 100% control of what other tenants bring into the kitchen, we cannot guarantee that their gluteny goodies haven't graced the same gluten-free counters that we work on. We CAN promise you that everything we serve you is 100% gluten free and at no time do we use gluten in our production. Our kitchens are professionally cleaned in between foodmakers so the chances of cross contamination are very low. Our compostable containers are plant-derived which partially comes from the stock fibers in wheat, and are gluten free. See above for more info.
Food that is locally grown can be harvested later than food coming from Mexico or across the U.S. As a result, the food tastes better and is more nutrient-dense. Food loses nutrients during transportation due to heat, light, and time. Sugars turn to starches, plant cells shrink, and produce loses its vitality.
Buying local also allows us to support our local farmers and communities, as well as the environment. It allows farmers to continue growing a sustainable product. It helps the environment by not wasting energy during long hauls and with transportation costs.
While not everything we serve is locally sourced, we always keep this as a priority and choose the local options whenever they are available.
Eating organic ensures that plants and animals have not been treated with pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers from synthetic ingredients, growth hormones, antibiotics, or genetically modified organisms (GMO's). It supports farmers and the quality of our water, and has been argued to be more nutritious.
We are not 100% organic. Here's why: many small farms lack the funding or resources to pay the hefty fee for the official "organic" certification, and the process can take years. Instead, we get to know our farmers and their practices. Are they growing organically? Yes. Do they have certification? Some do. Some don't. But we can promise you that the product we source is the absolute best we can get our hands on.
WHAT IF I WANT SOME GRAINS, DAIRY, OR SWEETS?
Model Meals is all about balance. We just thought we'd take care of the harder stuff for you and let you incorporate additional foods to your own preference. Currently, everything we serve (add-on's too!) is 100% Whole30 and Paleo compliant. If that changes, products will be very clearly labeled as such.
WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR PRODUCE?
We source the majority of our produce from local farms in California. We do our very best to keep things organic and local as often as possible. And it's almost always possible.
Our menus are created based on what is seasonal and available, but on the occasion that we cannot find what we need from our farmers, we source additional ingredients from food vendors and grocery stores like Whole Foods, Sprouts, and Mother's Market. We carefully select from whatever options are available organic and locally.
WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR MEAT?
Responsibly-sourced meat is a non-negotiable for us.
All meat products are humanely/sustainibly-raised, non-GMO, and free of antibiotics, hormones, nitrates, and sugar. In addition, we follow the specific guidelines below when it comes to each variety:
Pasture-raised (meaning the birds are free to graze on a pasture with access to both fresh air and shade).

WILL I LOSE WEIGHT?
You might. When you shift to eating whole, real, nutrient-dense foods, your body starts operating how it was meant to. You get the natural signals of satiation and satisfaction from the nutrients in your food. Because real food has nutrients. (Wow!) And you're less tempted to overeat or use these foods emotionally, which could very well lead to weight loss.
That being said, eating clean is about so much more than weight loss. It is a nice side effect if you do have excess weight to lose, but I know for certain that the benefits you'll find in terms of vibrance, clarity, productivity, energy, sleep, and overall vitality will surpass what you could have ever even imagined that little weight loss might.
In addition, we are not serving you every meal and we've still left a large majority of your food choices in your hands. It's up to you to make healthy choices and to look at this as a lifestyle change. We've provided recipes and resources to help you when we're not directly doing it for you.
HOW MANY CALORIES ARE IN YOUR MEALS?
Here's the thing. All calories are not created equal, and therefore that makes them a not so ideal way of measuring how healthy your meal is. 200 calories of avocado acts very differently in your body than 200 calories of Flamin' Hot Cheetos. And trust me
, I love Flamin' Hot Cheetos.
After years of counting calories, fat, carbs, and anything else that was trending, we've found that getting back to trusting your body's natural cues is the most effective way towards optimal health. When you get back to eating real, whole foods, your body regulates for you naturally. We are constantly educating ourselves on the most current nutritional information and we work closely with nutritionists to ensure we are providing the proper portions and nutrient balances. That being said, every body is different and the greatest teacher of what you need is you. If you are hungry, by all means EAT. Just make sure that your hunger isn't of the emotional variety.
Instead of focusing on calories, we focus on ingredients and nutrients, which is why we tell you absolutely EVERYTHING that we use to create our meals. We pride ourselves on transparency and are happy to answer any questions you may have.
WHERE ARE THE NUTRITION FACTS?
Our menu changes every single week and we build our meals based on the nutrition guidelines presented to us by the Whole30 program as well as many nutritionist mentors. If you need specifics, don't hesitate to shoot us an email with the dish name you're curious about and we'd be happy to get you more information.
SO THEN WHAT ARE THE PORTIONS?
Our "One and Done" Dishes typically have 4oz of protein, 1-2 tbsp of a healthy fat, and a generous plant-based side. Our "Butcher's Choice" or "Catch of the Week" is typically a 4oz portion of protein on its own. This option is for those who are incredibly active and might want to supplement their meals with more protein, and is also intended to pair well with our four "Farmer's Market Fresh Finds". These plant-based dishes can serve as snacks, pairings with your Butcher's Choice, or to supplement bigger appetites.
WHAT'S ALL THIS WHOLE30/PALEO STUFF? I'M JUST TRYING TO EAT HEALTHIER.
Let us start by saying, this is anything BUT a diet. It is a lifestyle, and lifestyles don't have to change overnight. I know we talk a lot about the Whole30, and that is because it has worked for us. Paleo is a very similar way of eating to the Whole30, but we especially like the Whole30's perspective on changing not just eating habits, but the psychologically unhealthy behaviors as well.

team. All ingredients are compliant and we also follow their guidelines about not re-creating bad habits with "good" ingredients, aka SWYPO. We include every ingredient on our menu and we encourage you to read through them so that you can educate yourself on the sort of things you should be eating. We want this to be an education as much as it is an experience.
Having Model Meals on hand for your Whole30 will hopefully make your challenge a bit more manageable, while still leaving plenty of room to learn to create these habits on your own.
WHAT DO I EAT ON THE WEEKENDS?!?!!?!
We can't do all the work for you because if we did, maintaining this lifestyle change wouldn't be very realistic. Also, we wouldn't be able to go to yoga during the week or occasionally sleep in, and self-care is a staple of our business culture. We take care of ourselves so we can give the best of ourselves to our clients. There are countless resources on the internet and we highly suggest using them to practice creating this lifestyle for yourself. We reference the Whole30 so often because it has clean eating built into it's entire framework.

DOES EATING THIS WAY COST A LOT OF MONEY?
It depends how you look at it.
We view this way of eating as preventative medicine. It is the number one way I save money and energy. I save it on the prescription pills I don't buy, the doctors visits I hardly ever need, the compulsive snack purchases I no longer make, the hours of incredible efficiency, and so much more.
Our goal is to make clean eating accessible for EVERYONE. We will keep our prices as low as we possibly can, without sacrificing our quality and standards. If our meal delivery is out of your budget or not available in your location, we provide many accessible recipes so you can create Model Meals for yourself at home. We also love to see how you stretch your Model Meals throughout the week. Buying a few of our dishes that you can't make for yourself and then pairing them with some organic greens, eggs, or avocado, is a great way to eat clean on a budget.

We understand that things come up without notice. For a full refund, orders must be cancelled by midnight PST on the Thursday before your delivery. Orders cancelled anytime between Thursday at midnight PST and our Sunday delivery cannot be refunded, but if we are able to pass your package off to someone on our waiting list, we will happily do that and issue you a credit for your next purchase. Please notify us immediately in the case of an emergency and we will do our very best to accommodate you.
